"Mother of the Groom" is the 14th episode of the second season of The Suite Life on Deck. Esteban, from the Boston Tipton, comes on board to get married. While the boys hold a bachelor party for Esteban, London and Bailey help Esteban's mother try to find something she enjoys besides taking care of him, so he can marry without his mother's guilt.

Story[]

Esteban, the former bellhop from the Tipton Hotel, comes on the boat to get married, but his mother doesn't approve of his fiancé. So, while Zack and Cody have a bachelor party for Esteban, Bailey and London try to find something that his mom can do after Esteban moves out. Esteban also asks Mr Moseby to marry him and Francesca. During the episode, Cody and Bailey talk about how they should get married and decide that when the time comes they're eloping. Esteban's mother accepts Francesca at the end and even plays the guitar at the wedding. Everyone is happy in the end.

Quotes[]

  • Cody: (to Esteban) I'll do everything I can to make sure you have a wonderful wedding, complete with the traditions of your country.
    • Zack: And I'll do everything I can to talk you out of it.
  • Cody: So when do we get to meet the blushing bride?
    • Esteban: (points to the deck where a woman smiles and blows a kiss at him) That's her.
    • Cody: Wow. She's really...mature.
    • Zack: She must be loaded.
  • Zack: So I propose a toast. Gentleman, raise your juice boxes. Now under most circumstances I find marriage to be a mistake. I mean, one woman for the rest of your life? No, thank you.
    • Cody: What Zack is trying to say is that we wish you a lifetime of joy and love with your beautiful bride.
    • Zack: And if you change your mind I know where we can get a speedboat.
  • Marcus: All right, now it's time for us guys to do some guy stuff.
    • Mr Moseby: Goody, goody, goody. Dare a suggest a mean game of Broadway musical charades?
    • Cody: (enthusiastically) Yes!

Trivia[]

  • The title of the episode is a parody to the 1991-film, Father of the Bride.
  • Francesca, Esteban's fiancé (later his wife), shares the same first name as London's British frenemy from Health and Fitness.
  • This is Esteban's last appearance in the Suite Life-franchise. It's confirmed that he still works at the hotel back in Boston, but as he explains to London, he's no longer a bellhop (which was his job-position when the twins were still at the hotel) and has since worked his way up to being assistant night manager.
    • Also, according to Esteban, ever since Mr. Moseby and the twins (especially the twins) left the Tipton Hotel back in Boston, things have been very calm.
  • This is also co-creator Danny Kallis's last writing credit for the franchise.
